Arquiconsult, Sistemas de Informação, Lda, was chosen by Blockbuster, the video rental world giant franchise, to implement a project on information systems in Portugal.

The scope of this project will focus on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV system for the back-office, and to manage its 26 outlets it will rely on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV add-on, LS Retail. This Microsoft Dynamics NAV integrated solution will enable the chain to be totally updated on sales and shop by shop results, whether online or offline.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Solution and LS Retail

The solution adopted by Blockbuster for an integrated management of the different shops envisions for the back-office, the Financial, Assets, Logistics and Purchasing modules. The LS Retail Add-on for the 26 shops will enable the management of video rentals, the company’s core business. It will also implement Microsoft Microsoft Dynamics NAV CRM.

This project expects to attain the following aims:

• Standardization of the front-office systems in all shops, enabling an analysis of the grouped data from all the shops, optimization of human resources and, amongst other advantages, lower ownership costs compared with the previous different systems.
• Competitive advantages over the competition, primarily due to better knowledge of the clients of each shop and group of shops.
• Better knowledge and management of the inventory in each shop. This will also enable better management of the transit of the film from rental to sale and a better planning of the films in the shop.
• A better, more efficient and quicker service in the shops.
• More efficiency in the configuration of the different campaigns throughout the year.
• Clearer and more precise information to the clients, as well as a more efficient knowledge/crossing of the key-factors of success.
